Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

Truth78 is guided by a Statement of Faith that provides a vision of God and His work that guards us and helps us equip the next generations to know, honor, and treasure God.

The Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the infallible and inerrant Word of God, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. We whole-heartedly affirm the authority, necessity, sufficiency, and clarity of Scripture.

God

We believe there is one, eternal God. He is completely self-sufficient and infinitely perfect, possessing every divine attribute. He is majestic in holiness and always acts to display and magnify His glory.

The Trinity

We believe that the one true God eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, sharing the same nature and essence.

Creation

We believe that God alone created everything and continues to sustain all things by the word of His power. From all eternity, God wisely decrees everything that comes to pass, governing His creation and events with absolute sovereignty, yet in a manner that does not negate real human responsibility.

Man

We believe that man was created by God in His image and likeness—both male and female—in order that man would glorify God in all his thoughts, desires, words, and actions, and find everlasting joy in him. Though originally created free from sin, through Adam’s transgression all mankind is born in sin, fails to glorify God as he ought, and is instead, sinful, corrupt, and rebellious. As a result, all mankind in Adam lies under God’s just condemnation, deserving of God’s wrath forever. Fallen man is completely and utterly helpless to save himself.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by God’s grace alone and is not based on any merit man possesses or any works he has done or will do. Through the message of the Gospel and the work of regeneration by the Holy Spirit, God calls and enables His chosen people to receive His saving grace through faith as they trust in the person and work of Christ alone, including His perfect life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection. This faith will give rise to sanctification whereby a believer, by the instruction of the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, progressively grows in conformity to Christ, striving daily to walk in submission to Him. God will complete His work of salvation in the glorification of His people—transforming their weak, sinful bodies into the likeness of His Son so that they might glorify Him and enjoy Him forever.

The Church

We believe in the universal Church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, which are called upon to gather for the purpose of worshiping God, for receiving instruction for the building up of the saints, and for proclaiming the Gospel to the lost.

The Last Things

We believe in the personal, visible, and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked in hell.

Truth78 also affirms the following statements and expressions of faith:

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
      the Father almighty,
      maker of heaven and earth,
      of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
      the only Son of God,
      begotten from the Father before all ages,
           God from God,
           Light from Light,
           true God from true God,
      begotten, not made;
      of the same essence as the Father.
      Through him all things were made.
      For us and for our salvation
           he came down from heaven;
           he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit
           and the virgin Mary,
           and was made human.
           He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
           he suffered and was buried.
           The third day he rose again,
           according to the Scriptures.
           He ascended to heaven
           and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
           He will come again with glory
           to judge the living and the dead.
           His kingdom will never end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the Lord, the giver of life.
      He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
      and with the Father and the Son
      is worshiped and glorified.
      He spoke through the prophets.
      We believe in one holy catholic
      and apostolic church.
      We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
      We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
      and to life in the world to come. Amen.
