What is salvation? How does someone become a Christian? What does it mean to become like Jesus? To Be Like Jesus begins by helping students answer these important questions by establishing the foundation of what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God and shows how we have sinned and utterly fallen short of glorifying God as we should. Then, students will learn nine elements of the gospel message, its purpose and its promise. The second half of the curriculum focuses on the doctrine of sanctification—the process by which a Christian becomes more and more conformed to the likeness of Jesus. Students will study 19 specific commands of Scripture that highlight how they can love God most and become more like him such as worshiping God, being merciful, rejoicing in persecution, being a humble servant and serving God with your abilities.

To Be Like Jesus is an essential Sunday School curriculum to help elementary students understand God’s amazing gift of salvation. Our prayer is that they see both the duty and delight of walking in His ways through grace-fueled obedience to His commands.

The Student Workbook has been designed for use during application time to help children learn and apply truths taught during the lesson. Each lesson in the Student Workbook includes the main ideas and Scripture taught in the lesson for review, a memory verse for children to learn, and an activity to help children remember the lesson.

Activities include questions, secret messages, charts, word blanks, word games, coloring, and more.

Order 1 for each student and/or small group.

Scripture memorization is encouraged as a part of this study. Memory verses have been carefully selected to emphasize the truths taught in each lesson. Verse Cards provide a review tool with both verses and promises for students to use at home. The cards are printed in black and white on sturdy cardstock, 2.75” x 4.25” in size, and bound with a metal ring.

The Growing in Faith Together (GIFT) pages help connect church and home as parents and children discuss lesson content taught in the classroom. Parents are given a summary of the lesson along with a list of the main ideas and Scripture taught. Other items include:

  • Prayer Points provide specific ways parents can pray over their son or daughter based on what was taught in class.
  • As You Walk By the Way questions help parents discuss the lesson truths with their child.
  • Activities designed to help children take what they have learned in class and act on it their daily lives.
